“Coastal hygge”

Pernille is a Danish-born artist who grew up on Denmark's northern coast and now lives in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Her work reflects both Scandinavian simplicity and a lifelong connection to the sea, drawing inspiration from the light, colors, and changing atmosphere of coastal landscapes.

Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, Pernille builds soft, layered textures that evoke shifting tides, expansive skies, and the quiet rhythm of the shoreline. Her paintings emphasize light, space, and mood, inviting viewers to pause and experience the calm of the coast.

Her watercolor studies take a minimalist approach, focusing on shells, crustaceans, and other coastal forms. Using simple compositions and negative space, they highlight the natural beauty of the shoreline.
